My rebuttal for Elton's Opening statement :D

I am going to do a rebuttal towards Elton’s opening statement about how children should be role models because they are well known and provide huge influences to the children in the world.  I would like to first off rebut on his opinion towards why child actors are bad to the public.
Another thing is that i think child actors are only bad to the public is because of paparazzi and i would definitely agree that it would be annoying having someone around always taking picture of me.
Referring to Elton’s blog, i think that the way he thinks that child actors act bad in public because of paparazzi is  from his own opinion. There had been no proof that child actors are actually being bad in public because of paparazzi. Some may be irritated by the paparazzi, however they should know that every step they take with a paparazzi next to them will be exposed to the community and their fans who are children that would be able to see that. I believe that if child actors love to be role model, they should understand that in any circumstances, they must be nice and good to one another.

There had been many child actors right now who are using drugs and hiding the fact that they are doing drug don’t work.

But one reason as to why i think she isn’t that bad because she only probably tried it or she probably would never have shown anyone or tell them that she does drugs.
.

Elton may be right that Miley Cyrus won’t be telling people that she is doing drugs however there are many websites and social networks in the world right now. One person can find out or even spy on her and the whole world would know including the little children that are believing that Miley is a role model to them. For instance, there had been many youtube videos with Miley Cyrus being rude to the public and many young children would watch those because they would want to follow their role models. Definitely child actors would believe that they are doing no bad to children, however it only takes one step for children to follow. They believed in their role models and believe that they are doing everything right.

The Color Purple ( Celie's Letter to God)

After reading the book The Color Purple by Alice Walker, the letters that Celie had wrote to God tells me about her character is very caring and protective towards one another. She cares about her sister and doesn’t want anyone hurt her sister.

“ I see him looking at my little sister. She scared.. But I say I’ll take care of you. With God Help.” ( pg 3 )
She is trying to protect her sister from her dad because she knows that someday her dad is going to do something inappropriate to her sister. Her dad was trying to do the same thing to her sister that he had done to her. This quote shows her relationship with god because on the last few words of the quote says “With God Help”. She gives lot of trust to god and believe that god can help her get through problems. Celie feels that god is her parent that can protect her and help her save her sister along with her. I feel that Celie is replacing his real dad with god because he don’t feel safe with his real dad.

Celie is a risk taker who tries her best to save people around her that she love. She knows that she will have to do something that she doesn’t want to do but in order to save people around her that she love, she have to do it.

“ I ast him to take me instead of Nettie while our new mammy sick.” ( pg 7 )
Celie demonstrated her care to her sister Nettie because Celie knows that her dad is going to do something to her sister. She decided to take risk into asking her dad to take her to do inappropriate things instead of her sister Nettie. She would ask her dad and risk herself into doing inappropriate things is because she knows that God is going to be her guidance and protect her. Celie believes that one day god is going help her get rid of her horrible life and live a better one. She knows that God would want her to have a good life then the one she is suffering because she knows that God will always be in her life and will ever leave.

Social Networks Harmful or Good??

Online social networks are harmful to the society because it caused too many problems to children and had increased more danger like privacy issues to the world.

Many would say that they can protect there account’s privacy, however there are still some viruses and anti theft that come into your account.

On large social networking services, there have been growing concerns about users giving out too much personal information and the threat of sexual predators. Users of these services also need to be aware of data theft or viruses

There had been many sexual predators online since social networks had started. They tend to scare or lie to network users into believing them. There had even been news saying about how sexual predators who are scamming  their love to innocent people and later it end up to be a murder case. I think that most of us had been hacked and gave out their personal information to people. Having social networks can also cause viruses into your computer. For instance, most of us may had experience ads from those social networks that can cause viruses. Viruses could be curable but some of us don’t have antivirus protection, so this may cause them to break down their computer.

Many young children had started to use social network websites and this could be a dangerous thing.

This creates an environment where a sexual predator can "shop around," looking at pictures and information to determine the best target.

Social network had caused many little children to be in dangered. Little children may had found that it is fun to have a social network however they are still young, so they wouldn’t understand how harmful it can be. There had been numerous numbers of kidnappers in the world, however there are actually more kidnappers online and I don’t believe that parents would want their children to be in danger. Parents should be more aware with their children.

There are also other issues like young children had been starting to focus on social networking and wouldn't go outside to exercise. Exercise is really important and ever since social networking had started, there had been a low percentage of children willing to go outside to exercise.

Websites that had supported my statement of how harmful social network could be is from :

My Life with Cousins that speak Spanish ! Free post!

Part of my mom's family are from Lima, Peru where they could only speak Spanish and Chinese. It was tough to have family members that could speak Spanish because all my cousins would talk to each other in Spanish.I know... I know I took Spanish class in sixth grade for a half year however I still don’t understand a word they were saying, they speak too fast. Sometimes I feel like they were talking about me because they would say my Chinese name during their conversation. It was irritating to hear them talk in Spanish.

Since they were from Lima, Peru, they didn’t know how to speak English when they arrived in the US and their Chinese speaking weren’t really good. I was seven back then and we couldn’t interact with each other and every time they see me, they would just call me by my Chinese name or my English name in Spanish which was hessica. It was different and difficult to have cousins that speak a different language then me.

Once I remember when i was little, my cousins were driving me to Walmart, however they didn’t know how to get there so I had to give them directions. That time they were able to speak fluent English however when we were in the car, they were still speaking Spanish. All I was doing was just sitting in the car daydreaming. Later when we got there, they bought me candies and ice-cream to eat and we talked a bit about random stuff. They were all heading to college, so we had to buy things for them to get ready for dorms. The day turned out not really bad and I love to hang out with my Spanish speaking cousins. They were fun, but they wouldn’t teach me a single Spanish when I ask them to.

Now, I would usually head to their house and bother them, however one of my cousins would bother me back. Since I am a violinist, he would tell me to give him some lessons on how to play the violin. He would even ask me to give him one since he knows I have a collection of violins. Times past and I start to think that having Spanish speaking cousins are a lot of fun! <3 I love them !

Response to Karisa's blog: People Change

I had many friends who had moved away since elementary to different places. One of my best friends from elementary school had moved to Hayward when we were in 4th grade. After reading Karisa Coleman’s blog post, I started to think back to the past when we were best friends.

Now, I haven't talked to this friend in a really long time. I miss her, but she doesn't really seem to care. It's kind of sad because she was one of my closest friends in middle school and now we never talk. Just like the quote said "[People] end up having nothing to say to each other, even if they were best friends the year before."
My best friend and I were really close friends and we knew each other since first grade. We know each other’s birthday and I still remember the first birthday present she gave me was a hello kitty glasses. Cough* I told her I love hello kitty ! Back then every morning she would come to my house have breakfast with me and we would talk and talk. Times past and she had to moved. The last time I saw her was a sleepover at her new house in Hayward and I remember how we were watching movies while having pillow fights. Those were the good times. I thought I was going to see her again after the sleepover, however that was the last day I’d seen her. :(

Later on, I had the same issue like Karisa because back in elementary school, we didn’t know anything about Facebook, Myspace, or even anything that we can contact each other on. It had past four years after not contacting each other and I finally found her on Myspace. Looking at the pictures, she had changed a lot like her styles and the way she talk to me was different. I really miss the old her. Whenever we chat, all we can say was I miss you and how’s life. We really had nothing to say and when we text each other all we can put on the conversation was a :D or a <3. Every time I think about my best friend, I just feel sorrow in my eyes and starts to tear.

Elite Colleges :D

After reading all seven debates online, I find that the most persuasive debate was by Martha o Connell titled as What You Do Vs Where You Go. She had stated many reasons and proofs that not going to elite schools doesn’t mean you can’t be famous one day or with success.

The “oohs” and “aahs” follow as the audience learns that Steven Spielberg, Steve Jobs and Bill Gates dropped out of college, that Oprah Winfrey is an alumna of Tennessee State and that Ken Burns graduated from Hampshire College.
From the beginning, I didn’t even know that all these famous celebrities listed above that had earned more than millions or billions of dollars were actually either dropped outs or graduates from colleges that I had never heard of. After reading this quote of hers, I realized that elite colleges aren’t really important to me anymore because success doesn’t always depend on elite colleges however you do have to depend on yourselves. Martha o Connell’s debate was really persuasive because after reading this debate, I change my minds from picking only elite colleges into also picking some of the state colleges or universities when it is my turn to apply.

Out of the seven debates, the least persuasive debate for me was the debate called Skip the Admissions Game by Kevin Carey. I found his debate really wrong and not persuasive at all however probably those really rich people would be interested to his debate.

They're nice places to hang out for four years and you'll probably learn a few things. Even if you don't, you'll still get a piece of paper signifying that you were smart enough to get in and rich enough to pay for it. People care about stuff like that.
I don’t understand why would he even say that college is to hang out because college is something that can help your future career. Also he stated that if they go to elite college then they probably will learn a few things however if those people learn a few thing, won’t people identify them as dummies after they graduated? I personally believe that people doesn’t always care about your “smart piece of paper” because lots of companies always test your knowledge before letting anybody working there. For example, what if you graduated from an elite college to become a doctor and you didn’t even learn anything from that college but you have the money to buy the “smart piece of paper”. Do you think hospitals are going to let you work there? Even if they did, you would probably be sued by many patients.
