After reading the last paper clip of the story A Child Called “It” by Dave Pelzer. It still gave my group some curious thoughts about the book. We all agreed that the book didn’t have a finished ending and it made us want to read the next book The Lost Boy, which I already read. In the group discussion, I tried to spoil a little bit about what happened in the next book. It was weird how I read the second one first then the first one.
After discussing with my group for the third time, I believe we had improved ourselves in expressing our own opinions. I was able to discuss more about the story. Our group members had create more and more ideas for us all to discuss about and it seemed like it flowed more smoothly. This book was a true story and our group was curious about why was his mom so mean to him by abusing him. This led to more and more questions and I was getting confused.
Our group had mention lots of the scene in the story like the parts where it was told that David’s mother was giving birth to a new son. The story was told that David’s mother and his father had always had argument and it was quoted that his dad wanted to leave the family. We didn’t get how could they get more child although they always have family issues. Our group thought about why would his mom be so mad to David and not to his other brothers. In the beginning, I thought that his mother was only abusing him because he was the youngest however after the parts where it had said he gain two new younger brothers and his mother was loving to them. We turned more confused.
I started a discussion on how better would David’s life would be if he didn’t have a mother because like his father’s job is a stable job as a firefighter and he could hire babysitters. I believe that anyone would be better than David’s mother. Saber agreed with me that it would be better, however we also placed in some disagreements into this discussions.
I am proud of my group that we all finished our book and was able to have a good discussion!

My future to college : Reponse to Alex's blogpost :)
After reading Alex Noble’s post, I started to think more about my future and college career.
After reading this paragraph from Alex’s blog, I thought about the colleges that I would like to apply to. The first three colleges that came out of my mind was Harvard University, Stanford University, and UC Berkeley. The reason I think about these colleges was because my aunts and uncles were graduated from these schools. Also, for now the topic that I want to major on is business and Harvard and UC Berkeley are the top three best colleges for business. I would like to apply to Stanford because it is not so far nor too close to home and is one of the top colleges. I know that many teenagers would want to stay away from their family when going to college however I am those kind of teens that are in the middle. I want to be close to home but not too close because they would be annoying.
I agree that people who are in Ivy League schools are usually viewed as intelligent people because they think that they are highly educated. Those people would view people on their intelligence from what school they go to would mostly be the people would ever interview them for their future jobs. As you can see, many jobs wouldn’t accept you unless you somehow accomplish something or went to a good college. In the past, one of my friend’s sister was graduated from UC Berkeley and she majored in business and when she came out to find a job, it was hard. Now she worked at the Walmart company and still couldn’t find enough money that could meet her expectations. Many job applications are based on what college you go to and the knowledge you put into the college. Work hard and you’ll be able to reach your future.
When I think of top colleges, Harvard and Yale come to mind. Coincidentally, they are the top colleges in the country. These are also the colleges that my extended family went to for some school and now they are successful doctors. Harvard and Yale are special because they are both Ivy League schools. Ivy league schools are known for how hard they are to get into and the level of intelligence of people that go to them. When most people hear that someone graduated from an Ivy League school they instantly assume that they are of high intelligence.

Response to Shannon's blog: My opinion towards Oakland
I agree with Shannon that Oakland is a fine place to live in.
Living in the hood for my whole life, I would say Oakland is fine. A lot of people call it a "kill-zone" and say its dangerous. From the parts I've lived in and from my experience its not really dangerous unless you're unlucky and shot as an innocent bystander or you're into some stuff. Most people in Oakland aren't even into stuff. Oakland has actually been very safe for me and lots of other people. There are parts that are very nice like Montclair and the Oakland Hills are all safe as can be.
I lived most of my life in Oakland and I don’t believe that Oakland is that dangerous. I don’t live in a neighborhood that could hear gunshots and killing, however I believe Oakland could be a safe place if you don’t leave your house at night.(Note* only referring to people who lives in a bad neighborhood in Oakland) I agree with Shannon that some parts of Oakland could be safe. The neighborhood that I live in is on top of the hills at Lake Merritt and we didn’t have any serious crime scenes there. Everyone in my neighborhood was just peaceful and the only crime scene that we had this year was that someone was robbed on the bottom of the hill.
Seriously, Oakland residents aren’t really into killing however the only reason that people are doing violence is because they are poor and need money to live a life. Everywhere in this world have violence and is dangerous. Oakland had been referred to that it was ranked as the number 3 or 4 most dangerous city in the US or something, however they should realize that there are still rich people who live in Oakland like in the Oakland hills. When I think about Oakland, I think about the word diversity because our communities are always diverse which is something that I really like about Oakland. Whenever my parents ask me if we should move out of Oakland, I would always give them a NO!
A Child with An Abusive mother :(
I had my second discussion with my group about the book, A Child Called “It" by Dave Pelzer. The main character in the book was a boy named David who was abused by his mother. In our discussion, we talked about more abusing moments that David in the story had suffered.
There was a scene in the story where the boy had to throw up all his food.
“Globs of thick saliva slipped through my fingers, as I dropped it in my mouth.” (pg 66)
As our group talk about this quote, we thought the mother was crazy because in the beginning of this scene his mother told him to throw up all his food from his stomach and eat it again. Christy, Justice, and I agreed that we thought this quote made us want to throw up because of the way they describe it.We thought about how could a mother do this to their own son because every single parent should know that food is really important to their children, so this scene was an abusing scene.
Another quote from the story made my group thought about why would his mother hate him so much.
“Once in the cabin, I was scolded for making too much noise. For my punishment, I was not allowed to go with my father and my brother to the super slide.” (pg 54)
This quote made us feel sad for David because he was only one being punished by his mother although his brothers were making too much noise too. Our group placed a theory that David’s mother abused him was because there was probably this big event that happened that made David’s mother to hate him. In the book, after he was punished to not being able to play at the super slide, his mother tried to abuse him more. What his mother did was that his mother used his little baby brother Russel’s dirty diaper and tried to mush it all over his face. Isn’t that nasty? That’s even worse than the scene with him and his mother where his mother told him to throw up all his food. The diaper may contain poop or pee!
As our second discussion ended, I started to question myself of what is going to happen on the third paper clip because all I know is that David is getting more abused from the first paper clip and second paper clip. I’m excited to know what happens next. :D

First Lit Discussion with A Child Called "It"
The book that my group and I discussed about was A Child Called “It”by Dave Pelzer. During my group discussion, we talked about how sad it is to hear about the character in the story being abused. The main character’s name was David and he had been abused by his mother. We discussed a particular quote from the story.
“Gripping my arm, Mother held it in the orange-blue flame. My skin seemed to explode from the heat.” (pg 41)
Our group found that Dave’s mother is the worst abusive mother ever. How can a mother hurt their child’s skin? Justice mentioned about how can his mother do that because like David have the mother’s blood and the mother gave birth to it. I wondered about Justice said for a long time. We all agree to each other that we were tearing when we heard the scene about him getting hurt in flame.
One of the topics that we discussed about was what is wrong with the mother and what happened that made his mom to be what she is. We talked about how in the beginning his mom was a nice and warming mother, however at the last chapter of the first paper clip, Dave described how evil and scary his mother was.
“Mom was a woman who glowed with love for her children.” (pg 18)
“Smack! My mother hits me in the face and i topple to the floor.” (pg 3)
That is a big comparison between his mother then and now. The first quote was in the chapter where he remembers his past and how he felt warmth then. In the second quote, it shows what he was now. There was a big transition from his mother being nice into a rude and bad mom.
Lastly, we discussed about how a big liar is his mother because one of the scenes, his mother popped his shoulder and arm. Her mother told him to sleep in the top bunk and in the morning he woke up in the bottom bunk. His mother brought him to the doctor and lied to the doctor that he fell and roll down from the top bunk to the bottom bunk. What a big Liar!

Sleepy post. Response
There are many times where myself is sleepy in school so i can relate to David Su’s response post.
Usually when I have projects, I don’t do it until the last minute because that is just me. I always procrastinate with my work that I would end up finishing my homework at 12 midnight even though there were really less homework. The maximum amount of time that i usually would end with my homework is at 2:30 am in the morning. Those are the times where I have to finish a project last minute. When I do projects, I would take a really long time because I always try to earn at least an A on every project, so that takes up lots of my sleeping time..
If it is still early before or a little after at ten o'clock or so, I would continue working on homework that isn't due yet like blog posts or projects. Typically, my max amount of time that I usually end at is at 12 midnight. If I past that time, then I would not get the minimum requirements of sleep of 7 hours. If I do past that time limit if doing homework, I would feel sleepy all morning long. I don't really pay attention in class and always find myself daydreaming, but I never sleep

I can relate to David about how he would feel sleepy in the morning and can’t pay attention in class because I do the same thing every morning.Usually I would drink coffee, however it doesn’t really help. Every time there is a lecture class I would just fall asleep or yawn alot and my eyes would just be half closed. Sometimes I would still feel sleepy even in the afternoon. From writing this response post, I learned that I should sleep more. Sleeping is really important and my parents always inform me to sleep at least 8 hours a day however i never listen well i try to but i just procrastinate too much.
My goal for sleeping is to stop procrastinating on my homework, so i would be able to sleep early. :D

The Place For my Kite Runner Book Review!
The questions that I chose for this essay was:
1. For what audience(s) is this book intended, and how can you tell? (In other words, for whom would you recommend this book?)
2.Find out about the author. How did they end up writing this particular book? How is the author's life reflected in the book?
Do not copy and paste an author's bio from other sites into your review! Link to it, quote and cite it, or write your own.
- 3.Pick a character that interested you and write about them in depth. You can also analyze a relationship between two different characters.
- Hint: If you just retell the events that happen to your character, that's not "in depth." You will need to zoom in on certain critical moments that truly show your character's nature, and explain how they do.
The book, The Kite Runner, is a historical fiction by Khaled Hosseini. This book had illustrated many scenes that had actually happened in Afghanistan back in the mid 1900s where the Soviets tried to invade Afghanistan. The book was first published in 2003 by Riverhead books. Later the movie of the Kite Runner was released in 2008 on DVD. In the book, the narrator was Amir who was a boy who was born and raised in a wealthy family in Kabul. The book shows a young kid who went through his life with many obstacles and issues.
The author, Khaled Hosseini, from the book of The Kite Runner was born and raised in Kabul. When he was eleven years old, he immigrated to the US with his family after the soviets invaded. Khaled did not write this book as an autobiography and he had thoroughly explained he is not Amir. Some scenes of Amir is related to him though like writing stories and flying kites. The Kite Runner was his first novel he ever wrote and he was a physician before he became a writer. He relied on his memories and experiences with Hazara people to write the Kite Runner. The author wrote the Kite Runner because he wants to portray Afghanistan’s language, cultures, and authentic passion. In the year of 2003, he went back to Kabul and all he could see was ware fares. Many people were injured and in the streets were beggars, orphans, and beggars. I received many of these information about the author of The Kite Runner from this website.
When I think about the book, The Kite Runner, I think about Amir who was the main character. In the beginning, he believed that he had lost many of his father’s love because of his little servant Hassan who had stayed with Amir for a long time had drove all the attentions from his father. Amir knows that Hassan is loyal to him, however Amir feels that Hassan is taking his father away from him. Once when Amir saw Hassan getting raped by Assef, he was scared and didn’t know what to do. Amir started to dislike Hassan, so he planned a trap trying to remove Hassan. He placed a watch on Hassan’s bed and lied to his father that Hassan stole it. Amir’s father forgave Hassan, however Ali who was Hassan’s father insisted that they leave. Amir found it relieved that Hassan left, however he finds him guilty in a way.
After a while, in the story Amir changes and that was the time when he went back to Afghanistan to see Rahim Khan. Rahim Khan had told Amir the whole story that Hassan was actually his half brother and how Amir could help Hassan by saving Hassan’s son, Sohrab.
“I looked at the round face in Polaroid again, the way the sun fell on it. My brother’s face, Hassan had loved me once. loved me in a way that no one ever had or ever would again. He was gone now, but a little part of him lived on. It was in Kabul. Waiting.” (page 227)
Amir was imagining Hassan because he misses Hassan and his guilt build on him. Amir finds that he owes Hassan a lot and it is time for Amir to return something for him. That means that Amir have to go back to Kabul to find Hassan’s son, Sohrab. He do realized how dangerous Kabul is, however he does not want to forfeit to save his nephew’s lives. Amir wanted to keep Hassan’s little part of him alive because he wants to fix his guilt. From the beginning of the story, it shows a massive change on Amir because from the start, he was a selfish and greedy person who believes that everything should be his including his father. Later on in the story, I had a different impression towards him and it is that he wasn’t as selfish as before anymore. He was willing to risk his life to save his nephew in Kabul and that shows lots of courage to do that.
In my opinion, I believe that the audiences from this book would be anyone in the world who are concern about Afghanistan or the ones who would like to know more about Afghanistan. The book had portrayed many of the Afghanistan’s history and living styles.
People in this world may not know about the traditions at Afghanistan. The kite running tournaments had been going on for many years. I do not believe that anyone would knew that kite running tournaments in Afghanistan were important unless they were Afghanistan people or historians. Kite running is a tradition in Afghanistan that happens every year and kite running portrays many of Afghanistan’s living styles and history. The Afghans had been kite running for many years meaning that Kite running had been part of their everyday life. Kite Running had been to be something that children in Afghanistan would usually do because it is fun and when you win, it shows pride. Kite Running was a way for Afghanistan people to receive excitements and help kite runners to earn confidence. These excitements brings happiness to all Afghans in their every day lives. Without kite running, Afghans’ living styles would change.
“Usually, each neighborhood held its own competition. But that year, the tournament was going to be held in my neighborhood, Wazir Akbar Khan, and several other districts-Karteh-Char, Karteh-Parwan, Mekro-Rayoan, and Koteh-Sangi had been invited. You could hardy go anywhere without hearing talk of the upcoming tournament. word had it this was going to be the biggest tournament in twenty-five years.” (Page 55)
Another quote from the book also featured some of the Afghans’ cultures and living styles.
“ The tension in the air was as taut as the glass string I was tugging with my bloody hands. People were stomping their feet, clapping, whistling, chanting, “Boberesh! Boberesh!” Cut him! Cut him! I wondered if Baba’s voice was one of them. Music blasted. The smell of steamed mantu and fried pakora drifted from the rooftops and open doors.” (Page 65)
The way that they describe the food like steamed mantu and fried pakora gives me a more deep understanding with Afghans’ cultures because if I had never read this book, I would know what kind of food are those. The book showed many ways of how Afghanistan would celebrate their excitements. For instance, they talked about how music was everywhere and how everyone was cheering. This convinced readers that Afghans are really cheerful and love to have fun. This book had also taught many Afghanistan words to readers which shows Afghanistan’s cultures. Like the word, Boberesh! Boberesh! meaning Cut him! Cut him! had taught readers some of the Afghanistan languages. I believe that before any readers that had read this book wouldn’t know what the word Boberish means.
Overall, the book The Kite Runner was really dramatic and the way that it describes the setting of Afghanistan had gave me an understanding about what it was like in Afghanistan. I was able to feel the way that the characters had felt in the story. This book was awesome and I find that any teens or adults would love it if they read it!

Kite Runner! Last Response! :D
After reading the last paper clip, I really hate Assef. He raped so many people including Hassan and his son named Sohrab. I find that when Assef got hurt in the eye from Sohrab’s slingshot, he earned it. I believe that I would like the story more better if Assef actually died. He did too much bad Karma, why didn't he die at the end? I realized that life is unfair because Hassan is a good person and he died. Assef did bad karma and was a bad person however he didn't die instead he lost an eye.
In the story, Rahim Khan ended his contact with Amir by giving Amir a letter. I had the question in my mind like where did Rahim Khan go after the letter was send. My prediction was that Rahim Khan died because in the middle paper clip, it says that he was so skinny and sick. Sometimes Rahim Khan would even cough out blood. I find him really weak and it would be impossible for him to move on to somewhere else except death. Also, I realized that Rahim Khan tried to trick Amir into adopting Sohrab in a good way. He lied to Amir about an adoption center that Sohrab could go after being rescued however that adoption center never existed.
I freaked out when I read pages 343-344 because I didn't know what happened to Sohrab ,however i know that the situation is bad. I started to tear a little as i read those pages because i thought Sohrab was going to die. He is so young and share many similarities with Hassan. The good part was that Sohrab was okay at the end. I dislike how Sohrab ignored everyone when Amir and him arrived in the United States. I find him really impolite ,however I know that there are many reasons why Sohrab was acting that way. I can step on Sohrab’s shoes and understood that his life is full of hardships. He lost almost all his family member except Amir in such a young age. Also, he was raped by Assef causing him to lose trust towards people.
After finishing this book, I realized that this book is really dramatic and intense. This book was great! :)

Future With Sucess Response to Andy's Blog
I think about success all the time. I ask myself questions like how my future should be. From reading Andy’s blog, I think more into my future success.
I agree with Andy that success describes a positive result because for my ideal success is to have accomplishments and become successful one day in the future. For my successful future, I dream myself graduating from Harvard University majoring Business and earn myself as the CEO of the Abercrombie and Fitch Company.
Andy is right that success lies in hard work and perseverance because I had once experienced a situation that taught me about success. When I was in sixth grade, I did not care about my classes and I did not touch any of my homework. I thought I am too smart to do all those things because I believe that I would still get As in all my classes. However as my first report card came, I realized that my grades had deeply dropped to C+s and Bs. I got really disappointed because I wanted to go to private university when I graduate from high school. I started to work harder and at the end of the next report card, I got all As. This situation had taught me a lesson to work harder to earn my successes.
My situation was a lot similar to Andy. I am happy for Andy that he understood his philosophy from one experience just like me. Success is really important to me and in order to achieve this, I must work hard. I know that if I don't work hard, then my dreamed future would be ruined, so I know I should try my best.
Success means many things to people. To me success describes a positive result or wished-for ending through the achievement of goals. The key to success lies in hard work and perseverance. Ultimate success in life can only come from hard work. I came to understand this philosophy during my experience in studying the subject, Pre Calculus. I feel proud of myself for making a change in my life that will assist me in the future.

My Life with the Violin/Viola.
Violin was really important to me and I started when I was in fourth grade. My first violin teacher was really strict and mean. She screams at anyone that doesn't know how to play twinkle twinkle little star. It was my luck that I remember my fingering to play that song.
As I grew older when I reached sixth grade, I made a huge improvement. I was the number one violin player in class which mean I was first chair. My teacher had always been giving me lots of attention and sometimes he told me to be his music assistant showing the class how the song would go using a violin. My hard work from practicing had finally paid off. The first orchestra that I joined was the Muse Orchestra and because of that orchestra, I had met a famous conductor named Michael Morgan. Also, the Muse Orchestra had gave me the chance to play at the Paramount Theatre and many other famous places.
The first time that I realized that playing violin was worth it was when I had represented Oakland to go play violin at San Jose University with other music students around the Bay Area. I was able to meet new friends and perform some of the hardest pieces that I had never seen before. This was one of the best experiences for me as a musicianist.
Later on, I joined another orchestra named Berkeley Youth Orchestra when I was in eighth grade. I started to play viola at that orchestra and I had made great improvements from there. In my opinion, I find that this orchestra was actually challenging in a way because for a violist, we can't really play high notes. When we had to play this song called Indiana Jones... I had to reach my fingers really high in order to play the high squeaky notes.
After I graduated from middle school, I was lucky enough to become a music mentor at my old school as a violist. I was able to teach young musicians all the things I learned over the past five to six years. I was proud to be a music teacher and because I get paid :D

The Kite Runner <>---- second response. :)
After reading the second paper clip of The Kite Runner, I realized that there are real such things as karma because in the book it said that there aren’t any way that Amir and his wife Soraya can have a baby. They tried everything, however it did not work. Amir was a selfish person in past and that it lead to bad karma causing him to have no children. As I go farther in the book, there was good karma going on because Hassan was a loyal and nice person and that lead up to give Hassan a sweet little boy were Hassan and his wife had.
Also, there was a change on my perspective towards Amir. In the beginning i found him a selfish, greedy guy. As i read the second paper clip, he isn’t as selfish as i thought he would be. At the part where i was reading this book, i realized that he regretted and went to save Hassan’s son from danger. Another example is when he went to find Hassan’s son, he stopped at his friend’s house. He realized that they were really poor and Amir felt bad for them. At the end, Amir gave a wrist watch to the little boy of the family and he also placed a few crumbled dollars under the mattress before he left. From this, I could tell that Amir is actually a kind person after all.
Another thinking that came up from reading this book so far is how come Amir and his father did not use the money that they use for Amir’s wedding for a down payment for a house. They held the wedding for $ 35,000 dollars and i was wondering why didn’t they buy a house first and settle everything instead of living in a one bedroom house. Also, they could even use these money for a better life by starting a business of some sort. This could help his father with his health and could give everyone a better life. In my opinion, i believe that having a wedding that is $35,000 dollars is not worth it. It is better if they could actually use it more wisely.

Response to Luis Alba's Post about Subsitutes.
This is a response post for Luis Alba about substitutes. I totally agree about what Luis had said about substitute subbing for classes.
“I hate it when people try and take advantage of substitutes like if they do not even know the rules of the school. In my old school, taking advantage of substitutes continuously happened throughout the year. I admit it I also used to take advantage but sometimes there is a limit.”
I agree with what Luis is saying because usually I am one of the students that would take advantage of having substitutes. Usually I would ask the substitute to let me use the restroom without using a bathroom pass. I would think that the substitute will not know about bathroom passes, so if I go I won’t need one. Once when I was sixth grade and we had a substitute, i took the advantage of going to the restroom without asking and stayed in the restroom for fifteen minutes. The substitutes did not even notice.
There are many times where some substitutes are really nice.A lot of the substitutes that i had experienced don’t usually yell at my classmates although we are really loud. Once in my old school, there was this lady substitute that let us use electronics when we had free times. Every one in my class brought out their phones and started to text or took out the Ipods to listen to music. To my classmates’ opinion, that was the best substitute ever.
Like what Luis had said about taking advantages when we have substitutes i totally agree because students just find that without their own teachers, it would be okay to take advantages from the substitutes. Sometimes there are substitutes that are strict too and even more strict then our very own teachers. That is why whenever I see my friends finishing that class and they would be coming out. I would rush to them and ask them if the substitute is nice or not. The worst substitute that I experience was the substitute that doesn’t know how to control the class because it would cause the other innocent people in trouble. Once I even experience a time where I got in trouble because the class were too loud so the whole class got detention.
THE EXCITEMENTS FOR BLACK FRIDAY ! :D
Black Friday is the beginning of Christmas shopping season and the Friday following Thanksgiving. Every year there are around one hundred thirty-five million people going Black Friday. This is an immense shopping day because people get really excited. Many stores would be open earlier than they usually are, so people would wait on line really early like at twelve am in the morning. Shoppers would like to have the best shopping items, so they would wait on line early.
This is the time of the year people would go buy presents for each other for Christmas. Many consumers would buy electronics because this day was the best day to buy electronics that can fit their needs. There would be a huge amount of people because of the economy dropping down. People would want to buy clothes or other things that they would be able to afford for and use it for the whole year. There are always things on sale in stores and the sale could be up to eighty-five percent off. The clothes are extremely affordable and that would attract many consumers.
Every year, my family and I would go shopping for black Friday. I even tried going to a mall in Gilroy at twelve in the morning where my family and I had to wait on line to get into Coaches for an hour and a half. Consumers love to go coaches during Black Friday because their bags were extremely affordable at that time. I seen this consumer who consumed twelve coach bags all at once. There were around forty or more people still waiting on line when i was able to get in.This was one of my best experiences in my life because the weather was really cold, however i did not forfeit and complain about staying there that day.
Black Friday is the day that provide excitements for everyone. Although a numerous of people would stay up all night just to receive things that are on sale, it is worth it. This year I am excited about Black Friday, I am definitely going to GO :D

The Intense book called The Kite Runner!
After reading the first 124 pages of The Kite Runners by Khaled Hosseini, I find this book very intense and full of conflicts on every page. The narrator in the story was named Amir who lived in the Wazir Akbar Khan district. He was raised in a wealthy family and lived with his BaBa. Also, he lives in a neighborhood with a friend named Hassan who lives in a mud shack with his father Ali that works for Amir’s family.
Hassan was very loyal to Amir. One example was that in the book when Amir threw pomegranates at Hassan so then Hassan could hit him. Hassan didn’t but instead he picked up a pomegranate and crushed it towards its forehead. In my mind, I know that Hassan didn’t’ want to hurt Amir because Hassan is loyal to him.Another example was that Hassan always help Amir get ready in the morning. The biggest thing was that Hassan doesn’t even go to school. All he does all day was work as a servant.
As I read, I found that Amir is a selfish brat who don’t treat Hassan as a friend after all what Hassan had helped him on. Amir even said that he believe Hassan is just his servant and not a friend. One of the most intense conflict that I had read from the story was about Hassan getting rape in the alley. Hassan can’t defend himself because two guys were grabbing him. In the conflict, Amir was there however he was hiding where he can’t be seen. Amir didn’t defend Hassan instead he was just standing there watching Hassan getting rape. Why would he just stand there?? He should have ran and get some help or do something.
Another Intense moment that caused me to tear was the part when Hassan and his father Ali wanted to leave Amir and his dad. Hassan and his father Ali asked Amir’s father to drive them to the bus station so they can go live with Ali’s cousin. Amir’s father refused and started to cry and what did Amir do? Amir wasn’t crying and this show that he don’t really care about Hassan a lot. They were feed from the same breast and they were raise together. Amir should be sadder than Amir’s father! This book so far is telling me that Amir don’t appreciate Hassan!

(Ignore all my other Blog reflections!) TRUE REFLECTIONS FOR THIS QUARTER
Throughout this quarter, my blogs were mostly responses from my classmates’ blogs. I believe that my classmates’ blogs had gave me a different perspective towards writing. In the responses, there were many agreements for me and it brought up more ideas that i can write in the future. I realized that my blog response were mostly based on academics and i would like to improve myself by responding to other blogs that doesn’t typically relate to academics. Blogging with my classmates has changed the way I write, and now I want to think more deeply about the differences between my academic and non-academic writing.
This is my first time setting up a blog and from reading all my classmates’ blog, i had understood why blogs are so important. Responding classmates’ blogs had help me carry back my memories from the past just like the response post that I did about Bullying based on David Su’s blog.Writing response posts to classmates’ blogs had help me become a better writer because reading the blogs had gave me improvements towards my grammars and conventions.

Responding classmates’ blogs had help me carry back my memories from the past just like the response post that I did about Bullying based on David Su’s blog.Writing response posts to classmates’ blogs had help me become a better writer because reading the blogs had gave me improvements towards my grammars and conventions.
When i was in fifth grade i was once teased by a classmate of mine and he called me fat and started to bully me. My feelings were hurt and i began to cry. Bullying can be a serious issue and when you hurt some one’s feeling very bad, you don’t know what they would do to themselves. Some people would cry after they are hurt however there are some that would hurt themselves or others.
Responding to blogs was a way for me to tell people about my past where i was embarrassed or hurt. By expressing myself with response blogs,it had help me get over the fears of my embarrassments. Harsh memories that had always been in my heart had slowly disappeared after I let it all out by using blogs. As I read the response post that i wrote from David’s blog, I realized that my grammars had improved and the sentences were flowing more smoothly. I remember before I started writing blogs, my writings were a blur. I was struggling with long run-on sentences that had caused difficulties for my readers to read my writings. I realized why blogs are important after reading lots of my classmates’ blogs and from reading David’s blog, i recognized how his post had affected me because after reading his blog, it helped me understand more about bullying and helped me bring back my past memories.
I had been writing many types of literature since I was a little kid where I learned how to write sentences with a few words. For example, when I was five years old I learned how to write “ She is big.” Blogs is different then what i usually write on literature papers because for blogs i don’t have to base my writings on anything because i could do free writes. Since we have freedom on blogs, i was able to express myself more. One of my free write responses was about Christmas from Karisa’s blog and i don’t believe that many teachers would actually let you choose that topic.
Something that i like about christmas is that you are able to enjoy a christmas tree full of candy canes and your family chatting eachother. Christmas is like a family reunion for me and also a time to receive things that i would need to supply for my whole year.
Usually when we have to write any literature, we would need to have a topic that is usually given by teachers. The way how I had responded to Karisa’s Blog was actually a free write and that topic was chosen by me. I really enjoyed that topic because Christmas is one of my favorite holidays of all and to be able to talk about this topic was my pleasure.Doing these free writes of blogging had gave me a chance to actually to feel free like how birds can fly. Blogging had changed the way I think about writing because in the past i thought writing any kind of literature was hard and can make me suffer however after I started to blog ;I realized that writing could be fun and a great way to tell other people about my feelings, life, and etc.
The times where I have to write more structured academic assignments like from writing classes are different from what i have to write in blogs because blogs are usually based on free write and your perspectives. Academic assignments were usually based on rubrics ,however we don’t need that typically for blog posts. I had wrote a blog post about moon cakes and it was my first free write post that was about my culture.
Today my family and I celebrated the moon festival where we would have moon cakes, fruits, and other foods while looking at the magnificent round and bright moon after the sky turns dark. The moon cake festival can also be called Qiong Qiu festival where it is usually celebrated on Aug 15 lunar year.
I am the type of writer that can do horrible on writings once it is graded with a rubric ,however I find that doing blogs are really easy because i don’t need to a rubric to follow. I would get a good grade once i meet the requirements of creating a blog post. Also writing blogs are different then writing academic assignments because on the blog post about moon cakes, I didn’t have to follow any specific type of writing structures like persuasive essays and etc. I was able to represent my culture with this blog post and it is really important to me that I can represent my culture. Many people that are not from my culture may not know about my culture so blogging is a great way for me to share my culture to people.
After reading the blogs I had posted over this quarter, i have some goals to make. My first goal is to write more words on my blog posts because I always find that my blog posts aren’t long or detailed enough so I would like to improve that. My second goal is to write my future blog posts with improvements of grammars and conventions because i always have the type of errors where my placement of words were incorrect or my spellings were wrong. This is an important goal because I don’t want my readers to get confused on my blogs. My last goal is to improve myself on doing blog posts by doing it more faster because I had always been procrastinating. My problem with procrastinating with my blog post was caused by Facebook because I couldn’t focus with Facebook on. From the beginning until now, I had a lot of fun blogging and it provided me more thinking !

Character Vs. Fate? Of Mice and Men
Of Mice And Men
In the novella, Of Mice And Men, by John Steinback directs the story of George Milton and Lennie Small, two guys who depended on each other through out their struggles for a job around California during the Great Depression. Life was difficult during the Great Depression however Lennie and George knew that they would be together although they have differences. Lennie is not as smart as George however George isn’t as big as Lennie. They both share a similar idea which is having their own lands and live together with happiness and warmth. The central conflict in Of Mice And Men is character vs. fate because they dream about their fate, however there are numerous problems just to reach that fate.
In the beginning of the story, George and Lennie had both lost their job and did not have money. What they were doing was thinking about the outcomes they do not want for their future or other words, do not want to stay like the way they are.
“Guys like us, that work on ranches, are the loneliest guys in the world. They got no family. They don’t belong no place. They came to a ranch an work a stake and then they go inta town and blow their stake, and the first thing you know they’re poundin’ their tail on some other ranch. They ain’t got nothing to look ahead to.”(13-14)
It shows their perspective on what they think towards themselves and others who work like them. They do not appreciate the works that they are doing for their job. It is George’s opinion that guys that work on ranches are the loneliest guys in the world because not all ranch workers believe that they are actually lonely. This was only an excuse that he don’t want work on ranches and would love to chase his fate. They are giving a bad impression on what they are viewing about themselves creating a low self esteem however these low self self esteem would help turn them into high confident men who could create their own better future. George and Lennie should know that there is a low chance that they can chase their fate however what they are trying to do is to give each other confidence that they would be able to chase their fate.
Life was difficult for George and Lennie because they had to find jobs in order to earn enough money to chase their fate. George and Lennie have confidence that they can chase their fate and earn the outcome that they wanted all along.
“George went on.”With us it ain’t like that. we got a future. We got somebody to talk to that gives a damn about us. We don’t have to sit n no bar room blowin’ in our jack jus’ because we got no place else to go. If them other guys get in jail they can rot for all anybody gives a damn. But not us.” (14)
It gives an explanation on the way that they don’t want their lives to become and how they know they will have improvements throughout their lives to chase their fate. Fate which was their outcome had always been what they had always wanted through out their life. They have self confidence that in the future they wouldn’t be the ones they are now.George and Lennie will not forfeit because they know that they need to succeed their fate. They know that they have a future that they will not let go and they won’t care about other people around them other than themselves. In order to succeed their fate they must face difficulties throughout their life before approaching to their dreamed outcome.
Lennie and George had always been chasing their fate. They wanted their own acres of land and live together happily ever after just like fairytale stories. Whenever they are together and notice that they are poor; they would talk about their future and their fate.
“O.K. someday - we’re gonna get the jack together and we’re gonna have a little house and a couple of acres an’ a cow and some pigs and __”” An’ live off the fatta the lan’,” Lennie shouted.”(14).
They wanted their fate so much that they would have imaginations for their future. This is a striking thing because as you can see they could go on and on for what they want their future to be.The author is trying to explain to us that George and Lennie had always dream about their fate. They have high expectations towards their future outcomes. They viewed their outcomes with the word someday because they do not know when will their fate is going to happen however they know that it is going to be their future.
Clearly, Lennie and George had many struggles to reach their dreamed fate. They had lost their jobs however they went through a myriad of conflicts in order to chase their fate. They know that their fate is destined however they had not forfeit. They dislike how they are working in ranches ,so their dream is to move out from working ranches and start their new lives in the future to have their own acres of lands.
